Four Year's and Counting!!!!

Hello! I hope this post comes to you while you are all doing well. I can not believe it is March already. What a whirlwind Feburary has been. The only word I can think of is challenging which I am not sure is even the correct description of what so many people went through. I hope many of you were stocked up on your Rusty Hook wines. I know I sure enjoyed mine. My husband may say I enjoyed it to much. Ah well, there wasn't much to do but stay warm inside and enjoy a "top of the line and delicious wine" made to warm your mind, heart and soul. I have never in my life experienced the cold as we did just a short week ago. No offense to those who live up North or that love the cold. I do not, I could not survive. Just being honest, all I would end up doing is drinking, eating and sleeping. I kept saying this with a giggle all week long as I just stared out at the inches of snow in TEXAS! Texas weather absolutely has a mind of it's own. Now on to some exciting news!!!

This Month comes with an overwhelming feeling of great accomplishment, this marks our 4th anniversary for Rusty Hook Winery. This would not be possible without all the love and support of every single one of our friends, family and customers! We want to say thank you. With that said we will be hosting an event at the winery and would love to see you for this celebration! We have Seaux Cajun food truck all day Stephanie Ross from 12-230p and Zach Grant from 3-6p. We also have 15 vendors out showing off their crafts and wares. Come on out and support some of our local folks and get some really unique gifts for your favorite folks. Buy and Support Local.

This March our wine of the month is Fair Winds, you will understand why I have chosen to spotlight this zesty wine that holds such a core balance of taste to the palette. Fair Winds is offered by Rusty Hook Winery and is an American Sangiovese Rustic wine, this red wine has heavy tannins which brings a mouthfeel you will never forget. This is what brings that balance we were talking about above, along with a magnificent structure. Okay, I am sure some of you are thinking "What is Sangiovese?" I will admit, I did. Interesting enough Sangiovese grapes are a red Italian wine grape variety. This makes so much sense because the taste of this rustic wine pairs so fantasico with Italian food such as pizza or pasta. Yum, right! Who doesn't like a good Italian meal. Italian food is my favorite and now I have found my favorite wine to pair it with and I just knew I had to share it! Match made in the sea's as the mermaids would say.

Hold on, don't worry I will not leave you with the thought of wine and food in your mind without sharing a delicious recipe that you must try as it was a huge hit at our last wine club pick up party. Simplicity at it's finest and full of flavor to pair with a glass of Fair winds.

Tuscan Pasta Salad Prep Time 20 mins Tuscan Pasta Salad is an easy pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes, peppers spinach, and olives tossed in a tangy dressing. This pasta salad is perfect for your next potluck! Servings: 6 Calories: 567 kcal Ingredients

  • 16 ounce bowtie pasta cooked and drained in cold water

  • 1 7 ounce jar sun-dried tomatoes in oil drained

  • 1 red bell pepper diced

  • 1 6.5 ounce can sliced olives

  • 1 cup spinach

  • 1/4 cup basil chopped

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese


  • 3/4 cup olive oil (See below for a little reminder)

  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dry basil

  • 1 clove garlic

  • black pepper to taste


  1. In a large bowl combine pasta, sundried tomatoes, bell pepper, olives, spinach, basil, and parmesan cheese. Toss until combined.

  2. To make the dressing: In a small bowl whisk olive oil, vinegar, water, salt, sugar, oregano, basil, garlic and salt and pepper.

  3. Drizzle the dressing over the pasta salad and serve.
